Join The Art Mob
< back to INFO
Are you a bass or tenor looking for a small a cappella
chorus to call home? The Art Mob is a group of 14 or so non-professional
but dedicated singers devoted to unearthing and resuscitating music
that no one else cares--or dares!--to sing.
Our repertoire includes Shape Note music, radio gospel, Victoriana,
and truly obscure vernacular pieces rescued from musty 19th century
songbooks. On the lighter side, we like to titillate our audiences
with the occasional oddball contemporary piece, or get into a little
instrumental workout with something like a kazoo rendition of highlights
from the William Tell Overture.
Our members are as eclectic as our music, and are uncommonly warm,
intelligent, spirited, funny, and, of course, modest. We rehearse
Monday evenings from 7 PM to 9 PM in a West Village/Soho loft. We
perform concerts during one weekend in December and one weekend
in May.
Intrigued? If you are a bass or tenor with good pitch and a good
blending voice, and can either (a) read music or (b) learn quickly
and tell good jokes, we would love to hear from you (and have you
hear us, for that matter). If you are an alto or soprano, please
check back periodically to see if we need new members with these
requirements. If interested, please CONTACT
us.
Thank You!!!
